I had the pleasure of visiting Barbados for the first time with my Dream Team and staying and experiencing the beautiful Sandals Barbados and Sandals Royal Barbados which are the only adults only all inclusive resorts in Barbados. It seemed like we would be touring two resorts but actually felt as if we were at one resort with a multitude of dining and entertainment options as well as a beautiful beach located just 15 minutes from the airport.
Sandals Barbados is made up of 280 rooms (Luxury, Club and Butler options), 11 dining options (7 additional next door at Royal Barbados for a total of 18!), pools, bars and entertainment options including a British Style pub called the “Merry Monkey” and a fantastic Piano Bar (Alex was incredible and knew every song we could think of!!!). Local shopping and nightlife is just a two minute walk out the front door of the resort and I was told it was very safe to leave the resort. (I had just three short days so I was content to check out everything on resort).
Sandals Royal Barbados has 272 rooms (Club and Butler level only on this side) with many options such as swim out suites, suites with your own sky pool or private pool and all rooms have a soaking tub on the patio or balcony.
I thought the food was amazing, the only problem I had was fitting in all the dining options in three short days!! I dined at Portofino’s (Italian), La Parisienne (Classic French on the rooftop) and Kimonos (Japanese Teppanyaki where Kemar was our entertainer as well as a master chef!!) I didn’t have a chance to make it to Butch’s Chophouse, Butch’s Steak & Seafood, Bombay Indian, Schooners, Soy Sushi, Chi Asian Fusion or the American Tavern. I was able to try a few others for lunch, breakfast and snacks and still didn’t hit all the dining options!
Don’t worry yourself about taking in all that food and drink, Sandals has you covered with a beautiful air conditioned fitness center and a relaxing spa and you can stay busy during the day with beach and pool volleyball, cricket on the beach and bowling (yes, there is a four lane bowling alley called “Lovers Lane” which is open from 10 am to 2 am). The night can be as busy or relaxing as you’d like with DJ’s, the bowling alley with the 1st Craft Beer bar in the chain featuring 16 beers from around the world with your own ice ring on the bar to keep those beers cold.
Our clients know that Sandals is for any age traveler (over 18 of course) and our honeymoon couples will love this resort but it also is ideal for our older clients and mobility at this resort is not an issue as it’s very flat and all buildings have elevators. Wheelchairs and golf cart assistance is available if needed. I saw many destination weddings while I was there and also a 60th birthday celebration which looked like lots of fun for the group. There is also a convention center so large groups are a breeze at Sandals in Barbados.
I was most impressed with the staff and the friendliness of everyone on resort and at the airport, the Bajans are very proud of their island and so hospitable and willing to share their beautiful home with the rest of the world. One of the local favorites is the Oistin’s Fish Fry on Friday nights, Sandals will provide transportation for $8.00 which goes to the Sandals Foundation. A great way to try the local culture!
Definitely put this island and resort on your radar and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Feel free to email or call me with any questions, we can book Sandals thru 2021 for a small refundable deposit. This resort is very popular and sells out quickly, don’t wait, let me plan your trip to paradise and I’ll take care of every detail!!! Believe me, I’m going back and it won’t be for just 3 nights!!!
